Jerusalem Featuring The Wailers Band
released 1986 label - EMI
Alpha Blondy commemorated 20 years as a recording artist, with the release of his CD "MERCI", in 2002 featuring Ophelie Winter and Saian Supa Crew, for which he received Grammy Awards Nomination in 2003 for BEST REGGAE ALBUM. But due to the governmental situation in his home country of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), he was unable to personally attend the important award ceremony in New York City. In an unparalleled move, the Grammy Awards allowed him to send his representative in his place. In 2005 'Akwaba' was released. His latest CD is entitled "Jah Victory" which was released July 2007. The album features drum and bass duo Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare as well as Tyrone Downie previously of Bob Marley and the Wailers. "Victory" is in tribute to the peace agreement that was reached and applied in his country in March 2007. He sings mainly in his native language of Dioula, in French and English, and also in Arabic or Hebrew. There is some of his best tracks on this album with backing from The Wailers Band.
