Inna Heights
released 1997 label - VP Records
"Buju" means breadfruit. "Banton" is a Jamaican word referring to someone who is a respected storyteller, and it was adopted by Myrie in tribute to the deejay Burro Banton whom Buju admired as a child. It was Burro's rough gravelly vocals that Buju emulated and ultimately made his own .Inna Heights raised Banton's popularity globally, as he explored his vocal abilities, and included collaborations with Beres Hammond and Toots Hibbert. The album received high praise at the time and was to become a classic. Inna Heights is a treasure, every track is superb, and in between tracks Buju talks about his inspirations.
