Independant Intavenshan
released 1998 label - Island Records
UK-based dub poet. He speaks his own verse to dub-reggae, usually working along side UK producer and artist Dennis Bovell.Linton Kwesi Johnson has his own record label LKJ Records His words are powerful, always sending a strong message, often covering controversial subjects. The backing is some of the best you will here, incorporating musical instruments you might not associate with reggae, violin is used in Reggae Fi Radni for instance. This album Independant Intavenshan has most of LKJs classic tracks. In fact this double CD album has 35 tracks, making it great value for money. If you were looking to buy just one Linton Kwesi Johnson album I would reccomend buying this one as it has most of his best known songs all on one album. Listen to the clips below.
